David’s Fans Rise to MOAS Challenge

September 17, 2015

Only yesterday, David set a challenge to his fans, and anyone interested in saving lives: if they could raise the sum of £5,300 (the cost of a single day’s operation of the Migrant Offshore Aid Station), he would match that sum himself. 24 hours later, we are on course to meet the target, thanks to the incredible generosity of David’s fans. After features ran on the David Gilmour Blog, this News page and David’s Facebook page, at time of writing (late Thursday night), the amount raised was £4,827.65, so it’s very likely that the £5,300 target will be reached.

But let’s not stop there. The Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS) has rescued over 11,000 refugees from the Mediterranean in the last year alone. Operating from Malta, they use advanced drone technology to spot boats in distress and dispatch their ship, the Phoenix, to provide life-saving assistance. As David has said: “Please give what you can. Together we can save lives”.
