David’s Preview Show – Lost For Words

September 5, 2015

David’s preview show for the Rattle That Lock tour at the Brighton Centre contained some surprises, some familiar old friends and all superlative quality from start to finish.

For the sake of those who are yet to experience it, it probably is enough just to list the songs played…

First Set: 5 A.M.; Rattle That Lock; Faces Of Stone; Wish You Were Here; A Boat Lies Waiting; The Blue; Money; Us And Them; In Any Tongue; High Hopes.

Second Set: Astronomy Domine; Shine On You Crazy Diamond; Fat Old Sun; On An Island; The Girl In The Yellow Dress; Today; Sorrow; Run Like Hell.

Encores were: Time/Breathe (reprise); and Comfortably Numb.

Playing alongside David, who excelled on Black Strat, acoustic guitar, lap steel and vocals, were, as previously announced, Phil Manzanera, Guy Pratt, Jon Carin, and Steve DiStanislao, joined on this tour for the first time by Kevin McAlea (keyboards), Louise Marshall, and Bryan Chambers (backing vocals), and Theo Travis (sax).

The sensational band were equalled only by the creations of Production / Lighting Director Marc Brickman. Suffice to say that the screens, films and imaginative use of colour and staging made this a concert by which others should be judged.
